Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy describes how AI Background Remover (the “App”), operated by Sinan Coskun (“we”, “us”), handles your information. It applies to the iOS app and the backend service that powers it.
The short version:
• We don't ask for your name, email, or an account — the App works without sign-up.
• Photos you choose are uploaded only to process them, kept private, and automatically deleted from our storage no later than 180 days after upload.
• We show no ads, use no advertising identifiers, do not track you across other apps or websites, and never sell your data.
1. Information we collect
Photos you choose to process
When you pick a photo, the App uploads it over an encrypted connection to our private cloud storage (Backblaze B2) using a short-lived signed URL. Our AI provider (fal.ai) fetches the image via another short-lived signed URL to generate the result. Uploaded images are not public, are never used to train models by us, and are automatically deleted from our storage no later than 180 days after upload. Processed results are generated and delivered by our AI provider and are not stored in our own storage; saving a result to your photo library happens only when you choose to save it.
Device identifier and app info
The App identifies your device using Apple's identifier for vendor (IDFV) — an identifier scoped to our apps on your device, not an advertising identifier. With each request we also receive your platform (iOS) and app version. We use these to operate the service without accounts: recognizing your device, linking your subscription, and enforcing usage limits. Our backend keeps a per-device record (first seen / last seen, processing job history and status).
Purchase and subscription information
Subscriptions are purchased through Apple and managed via RevenueCat. We receive and store subscription state: the product purchased, entitlement, status (active, trial, expired, cancelled), period dates, and store transaction identifiers. We never see or store your name, payment card, or billing details — Apple processes all payments.
Diagnostics
We use Sentry for crash and error reporting in the App and our backend (crash stack traces, error events, device model and OS version, app version) and collect a small sample of performance traces. We use this only to keep the App working.
Remote configuration
The App fetches feature configuration from Google Firebase Remote Config. Firebase uses a per-install identifier to deliver the configuration.
2. What we do not collect
We do not collect your name, email address (unless you email us), contacts, precise location, browsing history, or the advertising identifier (IDFA). We do not use advertising SDKs and do not track you across apps or websites.
3. How we use information
- To provide the service: process the photos you submit and return results.
- To operate subscriptions: verify entitlements and enforce usage quotas.
- To maintain quality: diagnose crashes, errors, and performance problems.
- To protect the service: prevent abuse, fraud, and misuse of the API.
- To comply with legal obligations.
Where the GDPR applies, our legal bases are performance of a contract (providing the App and subscriptions) and legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, diagnostics).
4. Who we share data with
We share data only with the service providers needed to run the App:
| Provider | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Apple | App distribution, payment processing, subscription management |
| RevenueCat | Subscription state management |
| fal.ai | AI image processing (receives the photos you submit) |
| Backblaze B2 | Private storage of uploaded photos |
| Render | Hosting of our backend and database (Frankfurt, EU) |
| Google Firebase | Remote configuration |
| Sentry | Crash and error reporting |
These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own advertising. We do not sell personal data and do not share it with data brokers.
5. Data retention
- Uploaded photos: deleted automatically from our storage no later than 180 days after upload, enforced by a storage lifecycle rule.
- Processing job records (metadata: status, timestamps, error info): kept while we operate the service, for reliability and abuse prevention.
- Subscription records: kept as long as needed for the subscription and for legal/accounting purposes.
- Diagnostics: retained per our error-monitoring provider's standard retention, then deleted.
6. International transfers
Our backend and database run in the EU (Frankfurt). Some providers listed above process data in the United States. Where required, transfers rely on recognized safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
7. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR in the EU/EEA and the KVKK in Türkiye), you may have the right to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of your data, and to object to or restrict processing. Since the App has no accounts, we identify your data by your device identifier — contact us from the App (Support) or at the address below and we will help, including deleting your uploaded images and device records on request.
8. Children
The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
All traffic between the App, our backend, and our providers is encrypted in transit (HTTPS). Uploaded images live in private storage accessible only via short-lived signed URLs.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as the App evolves. We will post the new version on this page and update the date above. Material changes will be highlighted in the App where appropriate.
